1) Characteristics and R/D, supplies in Spectrum
Indoor antennas are differ from its’ installation with Outdoor antennas.
Indoor antennas are for room space, so it should be small, lighter and easy to use. But Outdoor antennas are available at the outside. so it is somewhat free with its’ weight and size, but it should have to stand for heavy rain, heavy snow, hurricane ,typhoon or pollutions.
Indoor antennas are installed in living areas such as living rooms or bedrooms, so it is important to have them match with indoor space. now antennas are also changing as wall-hanging antennas with wall- hanging TVs.
Wall-hanging antennas are effective when it is installed on the windows. That’s because digital TV broadcast is well received to the windows.
As, following chart, LP49 indoor antenna is developed as a stand model in 2004, due to increase in wall-hanging digital TV, we developed a smaller and lighter model, HD-mini.
we changed indoor antennas innovative, we developed an wall-hanging TV friendly model Hemi-beam in 2008. It was a popular model in USA right before the DTV switching.
After that, we developed Match-wing due to needs for VHF frequency receiving antenna in the U.S market. And then we developed a non-directional antenna, Omni-saturn for foreign market and Korea. Now in Korea, we developed K-vesta as following requests of DTV Korea and gained popularity from experts.
2. Choosing indoor antennas and how to use.
* INDOOR ANTENNAS ARE NOT FOR ANY INDOOR CONDITIONS!!
You should have to check whether it is okay with receiving DTV signals.
Especially under the basement, you may be not able to receive DTV signals with any other antennas. and also you can’t receive signals where you can’t receive signals with an Outdoor antenna.
Indoor antennas are favorable in an apartment with large windows or in a building rather than in a house. Almost all the house is composed of the first to the third floor. In a house, it is hard to receive DTV signals due to the jamming cause damage to signals. so it would be better to install an Outdoor antenna.
□ LP49 Indoor antenna
After the first release in 2004, now LP49 has become a well-known model for Korea and overseas. now there are many companies in Korea and overseas which is in production with reproductions of LP49 model.
So far, antennas were made to install outside the house due to its heavy weight and size. But we designed it to install inside the house with a modern feeling.
LP49 (Log-Periodic antenna) is the innovative and creative model. We have an intellectual ownership right on this product, and it is still steady seller in the U.S. market.
In 2005, this model was awarded for ‘Radio-wave Technology Prize’ by Korean government.
LP49 indoor antenna can receive DTV signals in the place, where is somewhat far from the transmitting station. Especially it is capable of receiving the reflected wave. This antenna can receive DTV signals in the open space (60-80km).
Also, it has high reliability and solidity. (But, you should be careful for toddlers or young children)
□ LP410S indoor antenna (LP410 / LP410P Compatible product)
This model has been developed in 2005, it has similar characteristics with LP49 antenna. this models’ cover has been changed into copperplate from its original model of PCB circuit of LP49.
In 2008, this model was exported to USA and Finland.
Due to the governmental supply in Korea (digital switchover project),
We have a record of supply in large quantities. And this model was also awarded for ‘Radio-wave Technology Prize’ by Korean government.
Now it has become a best-seller model of Spectrum. This model was supplied to Philippines as a sample model for the digital switch over project.
And this model was exported to Italy with an exclusive supply contract
□ HD-mini Indoor antenna : intellectual ownership right by Korean Intellectual Property Office
HD-mini antenna is made to PC receiving card and for the monitor type HDTV. This model is small and light. So it has become a popular model for individual viewers. This model was exported to USA and Finland (and neighbor countries of Balkan peninsula). This model was selected as an ‘one of 100 products in asia’ by AVING News.
Existing indoor antennas were the stand type. But ‘Hemi-beam’ antenna was made to stick to the window or hang on the wall. The weight of this product is light (75gram) and its’ performance is also outstanding (antenna gain 3-4dBi).
And this model is also steady-selling product of Spectrum. This model is supported to LG, Lotte mart in Korea.
Hemi-beam antenna was a hit with buyers in Asia since its beginning of the develop. And it is most popular and receiving attention from the observers in the overseas exhibitions.
Last year, we made K- vesta model which has similar performance but lower price. now it is supported to Samsung, LG, Hi mart in Korea. Now we are ready to ship this model also.
Hemi-beam and K-vesta model is in best conditions when it is stick to windows. and when viewers stick it to the window, It can lower the damage of broadcasting signals. In a hypothetical condition, it doesn’t fall behind high-gain antennas.

The main reason why we made it was the request of the buyers in USA.
Differ to other countries, in the U.S, broadcasting signals are transmitted with VHF and UHF. So, we made it to receive both signals at the same time(other countries transmit UHF signals). this model is cheaper than other models, so now it is exported to the U.S. and part of countries in the South America.
□ Omni-saturn Indoor antenna
This model is the only non-directional antenna among the Indoor antennas.
As Terrestrial DTV signals are transmitted as the horizontal wave, so it has difficulty to adjust the mobile communication or the wireless LAN(small, convenient – vertical dipole type communication).
Because antennas are low-gain, it is better to install them in strong electric areas. Normally, inflowed radio signals change every moment in downtown area, because of vehicle movements and changes of reflecting surfaces of antennas. In this case, non-directional antenna, Omni-saturn would be preferable.
And if it is for the moving vehicle (for fixed watching conditions), using boosters can help its better performance. Basically, Omni-marine antenna is preferable but, if it is not good for utilization of space, Omni-saturn will help to make good performance.
There are more indoor products of Spectrum. For example, there is a tiny model named HD-i. and there are Master-pro and DX-1.
